The Old School Moneymore holds a special place in the heart of our community. Originally built as a primary school, its classrooms once echoed with generations of local children learning, growing, and forming lifelong friendships. Over the years, the building continued to serve the people of Moneymore in different ways — as a play school for younger children and later as a parish hall, hosting gatherings, events, and moments that brought the community together.
For many, The Old School is more than just a building — it is a shared memory, a landmark of local identity, and a symbol of community spirit.
Today, a dedicated volunteer committee is working to secure its future.
Our vision is to carefully restore and modernise The Old School, preserving its character while transforming it into a fully accessible, welcoming community hub. This includes upgrading essential infrastructure such as securing the roof, upgrading windows and doors, and making the building more accessible, alongside creating flexible, modern spaces that can support a wide range of activities.
The aim is simple: to create a place that is open to everyone.
From community events and social gatherings to workshops, support services, and cultural activities, The Old School Moneymore will once again be a centre of life in the village — a space where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together.
By blending its rich history with a forward-looking vision, we are ensuring that The Old School continues to serve Moneymore for generations to come.
The Old School is run by a small group of local volunteers who care deeply about the building and the community around it.
We’re working together to restore the space and bring it back into use as a welcoming hub for everyone in Moneymore.
